The world cried out iSad, iRespect, iCantbelievethis and more on Oct 6th 2011. An icon in the world of technological passed away. Or did he?
I’m sure he has passed away but what if, by predicting the lack of wow’s for the iPhone 4S, this ‘news’ was developed.
7000% jump in sales is what Apple Inc recorded on the day Steve Jobs passed away. One million pre-ordered iPhone 4S are waiting to be enjoyed. All this is post the death of Steve Jobs.
I was on a flight to Goa on the day Steve Jobs passed away. A friend of mine and I had quite a discussion regarding the death of Steve Jobs.
What if, just what if! He is, at this moment; sitting somewhere on a remote island sipping a nice cocktail reading about his demise. What if this were all pre-planned. Why else would Apple Inc not comment on his death? Why else would they inform the local police that Steve Jobs would pass away that week. How can one predict so much in time?
It’s an interesting thought and there is a remote possibility that Steve Jobs is still alive and kicking.
He was diagnosed in 2003; fine that I’m sure is true. It would be extremely farfetched if I were to insinuate that he predicted the booing of the iPhone4S back then.
In August he resigned as CEO and brought in Tim Cook. Fine agreed he was unwell and was fighting to stay alive.
But when the August announcement was made everyone wrote how it would be so tough for a man like Tim Cook to walk in the shadow of Steve Jobs. His experience, his passion his overall charisma were questioned when compared with Steve Jobs.
Apple as a brand was or rather is looked up to because of Steve Jobs. How many blackberry users or android users know the respective CEO’s names? let alone aspire to be them?
Apple is nothing unique, it is niche, but not unique. It is a statement but its features are replicable. The persona on the other hand is not. So how do you pass on the reigns when a persona is non-transferable? Steve Jobs would have known this and only something as dramatic as death could make the world feel compassion for both the brand as well as, in the future, Tim Cook.
I’m sure in the next apple launch there will be a dramatic display of affection from Tim Cook to Steve Jobs. This itself will win the Apple fan clubs hearts. In fact it will win everyone’s hearts, including mine. People won’t buy Apple products just because they don’t have one but because they feel it’s their way of saying Rest In Peace Steve.
While I am running on just a theory I must say the theory is sound. Who knows, this world is so full of conspiracies the first man on the moon, Elvis, Roswell etc you never know this could be true as well!
There is not end to conspiracy theories and being shrewd and cunning were a few of the trademark qualities of Steve Jobs. If anyone could have thought of this and pulled it off, it would be him. If he is really dead I’m sure he will turn in his grave after reading this!
But again its just a thought and maybe this thought just represents an iOta of iHope that he aint dead and iNnovation lives on.
So Rest In Peace Steve or Retire In Paradise.
